How To Measure - Lingerie

In the following guide, you’ll find step-by-step instructions to determine both the top size (based on your bra size) and the bottom size (based on your hip measurement), which are the two essential sizes needed when purchasing or selecting this lingerie.

This dual-sizing approach ensures a perfect fit tailored to your unique body shape, allowing you to choose the best top size for your chest and the best bottom size for your hips independently. By following these easy steps, you’ll confidently select the right combination for your lingerie!

Top Size - Chest

This guide is for the top part of our lingerie (the bra-like chest area). If you already know your bra size (example: 32D), you can skip straight to Step 5.

If you don’t know your bra size, you’ll measure your body with a soft tape measure (like the kind for sewing), and we’ll help you calculate your bra size. Then, you’ll pick your lingerie top size (from XXS to 5XL).

Step 1: Get Ready to Measure

  • Grab a soft measuring tape. If you don’t have one, use string and a ruler.
  • Wear nothing on top or just a thin bra (no padding, so it’s accurate).
  • Stand straight but relaxed, like you’re chilling. Breathe normally—don’t suck in your tummy.
  • Have a friend help if you can, or use a mirror to keep the tape straight and level (not slanted).

Step 2: Measure Your Underbust (This Gives Your Band Size)

  • The underbust is the area right under your boobs, around your ribcage.
  • Wrap the tape snugly (like a hug, not too tight) around your body, just below where your bra band would sit. Make sure it’s straight all the way around.
  • Exhale (breathe out) a little so it’s comfy, then read the number in cm.
  • Round to the nearest even number: If it’s odd (like 73 cm), go to the closest even one (like 74 cm, but use the chart ranges to match).
  • Look at the chart below to find your band label (like 32 or 34). For example, if you measure 73-77 cm, your band is 32.

Step 3: Measure Your Bust (This Helps Find Your Cup Size)
  • The bust is the fullest part of your chest, usually over your nipples.
  • Wrap the tape around your back and over the biggest part of your boobs. Keep it level (straight like a belt) and snug, but not squishing anything.
  • Read the number in cm. For example, if it’s 90 cm, that’s your bust measurement.
  • Now, calculate your cup size: Subtract your underbust from your bust (bust minus underbust = difference).
  • Use the difference to find your cup letter from this list:
    • AA: 7-9 cm difference
    • A: 10-11 cm difference
    • B: 12-13 cm difference
    • C: 14-15 cm difference
    • D: 16-17 cm difference
    • DD (sometimes called E): 18-19 cm difference
    • E (sometimes called F): 20-21 cm difference
    • F (sometimes called G): 22-23 cm difference
    • G (sometimes called H): 24-25 cm difference
    • H (sometimes called I): 26-27 cm difference
    • I (sometimes called J): 28-29 cm difference
    • J (sometimes called K): 30-31 cm difference
    • K: 32-33 cm difference
  • Example: Underbust = 75 cm (32 band), Bust = 90 cm. Difference = 15 cm → C cup. So your bra size is 32C!
If your difference is bigger than 33 cm or smaller than 7 cm, message us at xia@claraleila.com —we can try to make something special and customized just for you.

Step 4: Combine Band and Cup to Get Your Bra Size
  • Put them together: Band number + Cup letter = Bra size (like 34B).
  • If you already know your bra size (from a store or old bra), skip to Step 5—you don’t need to measure!
Step 5: Find Your Lingerie Top Size Using the Bra Size Chart
  • Now that you have your bra size (like 32D), look at the chart below.
  • Find your exact size in the list for each lingerie top size (XXS to 5XL). The chart groups similar sizes together because our lingerie top is adjustable and fits a range.
  • The lists say things like “28AA-28K”—that means every size from 28AA, 28A, 28B, all the way to 28K.
  • Pick the lingerie top size where your bra size shows up. For example, if you’re 32D, it’s in XS (under “32C-32E”).
  • If your size appears in more than one group (rare, but possible for borders), choose based on how you like it: smaller group for snug fit, larger for comfy.

Step 6: What If I’m Between Sizes or Unsure?
  • If your measurements are right on the edge (like a 13.5 cm difference, between B and C), try both cups in a store bra to see what feels better, then pick here.
  • For a tighter fit (like if you want more support), go with the smaller lingerie size. For looser, go bigger.
  • Remember, the lingerie has adjustable lacing in the back, so it can tweak the fit a bit.
  • Done? Now pick your hip size from our separate hip chart, add to cart, and you’re set!
If this still feels tricky, send us your measurements at xia@claraleila.com—we’ll pick for you. You’re gonna love how it fits!

Bottom Size - Hips

Now let’s size the bottom part—the flowy skirt that goes over your hips. This is separate from the top so we can make it just right for your body shape (like if you have narrow hips or wider ones).

It’s easy, like measuring for pants. Use the same soft tape measure, and stand relaxed in underwear or nothing. We’ll measure in cm again.

Step 1: Get Ready to Measure Your Hips
  • Stand straight with your feet together, like you’re posing for a photo.
  • Find the fullest part of your hips—usually over your buttocks (bum).
  • Wrap the tape around that widest spot. Keep it level (straight like a hula hoop) and snug, but not pulling tight.
  • Breathe normally and read the number in cm. Measure twice to be sure!
  • Tip: If you have a mirror, check that the tape is even all around. Don’t suck in— we want it comfy!

Step 2: Find Your Hip Size Using the Chart

  • Look at your hip measurement (example: 95 cm).
  • Find where it fits in the chart below. The sizes are ranges, so if you’re 95 cm, that’s in M (91-96 cm).
  • If you’re right on the edge (like 96 cm), pick based on how you want it: smaller size for snug, larger for loose and flowy.

Step 3: What If I’m Unsure About My Hip Measurement?

  • If it feels too tight in your mind, size up for more room to move.
  • The lingerie skirt is tiered and ruffled, so it has some give, but the base needs to fit over your hips easily.
  • Pair this with your top size from earlier, and you’re all set to order!
